June 30, 2025—Anthony Middle School eighth grade student Addison Than and Metcalf Elementary School fifth grade student Hannah Ruiz both placed in the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation (TAPT) State School Bus Safety Poster Contest.

Than placed first in Division 3 and won Best of Show with her poster design. Ruiz placed second in Division 4. The 2024-2025 contest slogan, “Safety First – Safety Always,” had to be included on each poster. Than’s poster will advance to the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) School Bus Safety Poster Contest.

“We had so much fun visiting the campuses to present winning ribbons, goodies and the TAPT state winner’s checks,” said Kim Coleman, assistant director of transportation. “Thank you to all the CFISD art students and teachers for their incredible creativity and enthusiasm for the contest. The artwork blew us away and showed just how talented and passionate our students and teachers are.”

The TAPT School Bus Safety Poster Contest helps promote school bus safety and offers opportunities for students to receive small scholarships. Than received a $500 scholarship while Ruiz received a $100 scholarship.

The contest features various rounds of competition, including district, region, state and national. The following CFISD students placed at the district, region and state contests:
